Hey there my name is Joseph Ruffler, you probably know me as Ruff. I'm one of the creators of Billy Ends The World. I've been working on this project with my co-creators Erik and Sean over the last few years. I wanted to introduce myself because this project is very important to me and our team at Sorta Stupid and with this being a big ask I thought it was best to talk directly to you about what we're doing here.

Our animated series Billy Ends the World is getting made. That part’s happening no matter what. We've been working for years on this project and full production of the pilot began back around June of 2026. Maxwell Atoms (The Creator of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy) has been a huge inspiration for the project and we've had the honor to have him join the team.

We've run a bunch of small test animations with an animation studio over the last few years and although they were all very talented artists it just never felt right. The project felt distant and it felt like we were barely involved. And with that we decided it was time to take things in house. 

So Sorta Stupid Studios was born and we've been bringing on animator after animator, character artists, asset artists, background artists and more. Not to mention our incredible in house Sorta Stupid art team who has worked with us for years. 

The point of this Back The Pilot Pizza Party Push we set up is because we keep getting asked how you can support us, how you can support Billy Ends The World. And our answer has always been just get a Sorta Stupid membership I guess? But repeatedly we keep hearing "but I'm already a member". 

We've never had any kind of tip links or anything because we never felt we needed it. Our team was paid and we were content so what's the need? However, animation is expensive because human artists deserve a living wage and we've hit the max we can realistically spend per month on the project without resorting to underpaying our team which is not something we're comfortable doing.

Like I said above we WILL be making this pilot. But with your help we can hire more human artists and animators. Get more incredibly talented artists jobs in an industry that’s already a mess with layoffs, and now has AI being forced onto more teams and projects every day.

At Sorta Stupid Studios we have one belief when it comes to animation and art. The point of art is human expression and without human expression what's the point? So if you want to help support a project for humans and by humans we will continue to expand our team and not only get this pilot out sooner. But hell maybe we'll be able to make future episodes or even green light some other shows. As we approach 750,000 subscribers on YouTube with our channel Sorta Stupid one thing is clear...The Billy Army is strong, ever growing and there is nothing we cannot do as a community.

How it works
